The American Physical Society offers the Scholarship for Minority Undergraduate Physics Majors in order to increase the representation of minorities in the field of physics. First-time recipients are awarded $2,000 for one year, while renewing scholars are awarded $3,000. Each minority scholar is paired with an APS mentor as well as a mentor at their institution.
- Eligibility: Applicants must be African-American, Hispanic, or Native American US citizens or permanent residents who are majoring or plan to major in physics. Applicants should be high school seniors, college freshmen, or college sophomores.
- Deadline: The application and all supporting documents must be postmarked by the first Friday in February, February 6, 2009.
