AAG's New Home

Welcome to the new resource for Lewis & Clark's Academic Awards & Grants Program! Here you will find information on the various fellowship and scholarship opportunities available to undergraduate and graduate students.

As we are currently transitioning from the previous LC webpage, you will need to navigate between both pages in order to find some information. However, once transitioning is complete, http://academicawardsgrants.blogspot.com will serve as the resource for detailed information about these fellowships and scholarships.

Leave a posting or comment for us to let us know how are doing and what we can do to improve this resource for you. Additionally, follow us on Facebook and on Twitter.

Best,
Tamara Ko

DHS Scholarship and Fellowship Program

The US Department of Homeland Security(DHS) offers scholarships and fellowships in order to cultivate a science and technology community which is capable of meeting DHS needs. These awards are supported by the Science and Technology Directorate, which operates as the primary research arm of the DHS.

Undergraduate scholarships last for two years, separated by a 10-week summer research internship at a DHS-affiliated facility. The program funds full tuition to recipients, as well as mandatory fees, a $1,000 monthly stipend during the 9 month academic year, and a $5,000 monthly stipend during the following summer internship.

Graduate fellowships last up to three years, also with a required 10-week summer internship between the first and second years. The program funds full tuition, fees, and a $2,300 monthly stipend for 12 months.

Within two years after the final stipend payment, scholarship or fellowship recipients are required to work for one year at a DHS-approved job relating to science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.

  • Eligibility: Scholarship applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate program while fellowship applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program. All applicants must be US citizens. The website contains a full list of eligibility requirements. Alternately, a questionnaire at the beginning of either application will determine your eligibility.
  • Deadline: Online applications are due by 11:59 pm EST on January 6, 2009. Supporting materials must be received by January 13, 2009.
